The study supersedes the 1994 Tuggerah Lakes Flood Study and incorporates contemporary flood modelling techniques, Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) 2019 methodologies, an additional 30 years of monitoring data, recent flood events, updated entrance management knowledge and consideration of climate change. The study focuses on lake flooding generated by the interaction of catchment inflows, ocean influences and the dynamic entrance channel at The Entrance. Tributary and overland flooding were excluded from the scope and are addressed under separate flood studies.

The supplied data are final outputs from the Tuggerah Lakes Flood Study Review (MHL2929, 2026) prepared by Manly Hydraulics Laboratory (MHL) on behalf of Central Coast Council. The model results represent existing conditions and are based on hydrologic and hydraulic modelling undertaken in accordance with Australian Rainfall and Runoff (ARR) 2019 and the NSW Flood Risk Management Manual. The study includes simulation of design flood events from the 20% AEP through to the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF), climate change scenarios, flood hazard mapping, flood function mapping and flood planning area mapping. Results are subject to the assumptions, limitations and methodologies documented in the Tuggerah Lakes Flood Study Review report and associated mapping appendices.
All content within this dataset and the associated Tuggerah Lakes Flood Study Review is owned by Central Coast Council and is protected by copyright.
